Holders Culter kicked off their defence of the trophy with a 2-1 victory at Hermes in Section 3, Newmachar United shocked FC Stoneywood at Charlie Gordon Park, while Glentanar and Stonehaven shared six goals at Woodside.

Hall Russell United edged out Banks o' Dee by the odd goal in five at Denmore Park in Section 2.

Lewis United are the early leaders in Section 1 after a 2-0 win at Bridge of Don Thistle.

Maud lead the way in Section 4 following a single goal victory at Fraserburgh United, while Cruden Bay and Whitehills were shock victors against Buchanhaven Hearts and Islavale in Section 5.

Forres Thistle and RAF Lossiemouth both opened up their campaigns with victories in Section 6.

New Elgin hit five without reply to lead the way in Section 7, while Portgordon Victoria started life back in junior football with a 2-1 defeat at Burghead Thistle.

In the only league fixture of the opening night, Lossiemouth United recorded a 2-1 victory at Dufftown in the PMAC Group First Division.
